Flock 1.0 - at last!

I discovered yesterday that Flock 1.0 was finally released last week.  Having used it a bit yesterday evening and this morning, I find it pretty nice.

Flock 1.0 seems to do a good job of taking advantage of the Mac user interface.  Under Mac OS X, the controls have the Aqua look-and-feel - as you would hope any browser would do on the Mac platform.

The only feature that seems to not be working is the one that shows your favorite feeds on the summary page.  That list, which is in the middle column of the page - is always empty for me.  I have added two feeds but they still do not show up in the list.

That is a minor annoyance to me at the moment.  I have a hunch it will get fixed by the developers quickly.

The other unique features of the browser range from nice and very useful - to fantastic.

If you have a Flickr account then you really need this web browser.  Flock makes photo browsing on Flickr so easy you will not believe it.

If you have more than one search engine that you love - perhaps some special purpose ones, Flock provides support for the Firefox search plugins and includes a few of its own to get things started.

Many Firefox extensions are supported too.  Not all but a bunch.  Some of them have a special version tailored just for Flock.

If you like RSS news feeds, Flickr has excellent support for browsing them and bookmarking favorite articles.  I really like how Safari lets you browse them too.  I have to say I think Safari provides the best filtering capability for feed of any browser.  However, Flock has easy moved up to the number 2 spot for me.

Managing your accounts for various web sites is much easier in Flock.  Instead of making it a black box feature or hiding account administration in the background, you can pull up a list of your web accountss in the sidebar with one click of the mouse.
